Less doors, more elegance, same price: this is the coupe-version of the Mercedes C-class. It’s never been outside a fenced area yet, but still we got the very first shots of Mercedes’ all-new C class Coupe. And the car is less camouflaged!
Unlike its bigger E-class Coupe brother, the smaller C class Coupe will not receive an individual styling but will retain the saloon’s front section as well as the taillights and rear bumper. Of course it will get the new front which also will debut on the facelifted C-class early 2011. The centre-section and roofline, doors and windows, however, will be unique to Mercedes’ new small 2+2-seater. Still disguised is the rear side window which will feature a design element typical for Mercedes’ biggest competitor: the so called “Hofmeister-Knick” that crowns all BMWs.
Engines
Under the bonnet we expect to see all engines available for the C-class saloon: petrol units with four or six cylinders and an output of between 156 and 292 hp as well as oil-burners with 136, 170, 204 and 231 hp.
Dimension
Even though the new C-class Coupe’s dimensions won’t differ much from the saloon, prices might still be a lot lower than those of the 4-door brother. Reason: The new coupe is to replace the ageing semi-hatch, also named the C-class Coupe (CLC), and needs to meet the financial possibilities of those customers. And the old coupe was actually a lot smaller than the saloon.
