Judging from the camouflage, we think the Avenger might in for a more significant update than the other vehicles we´ve been seeing. A new grill and bumper can be expected up front. We think there may be more pronounced projectors inside the headlight housing as well.
On the side, the Dodge Charger-like "shoulder" may have been toned down. We're not sure if the camo is playing tricks on our eyes or if the design feature has been smoothed out some. At the rear, we can see the bumper has been re-sculpted. Unfortunately, our encounter with this Avenger was too brief to get a good look at the interior. However, as with most of the Chrysler refreshes, a significantly updated interior should be in store.
Engines
As with most of the other Chrysler lineup, the Avenger will get the new 3.6L Pentastar V6 motor mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Fiat's multiair technology may also be added to the Pentastar at a later date. We're also hearing that the 2.4L 4-cylinder has been retuned for more power/efficency.
Am I the only one thinking this will look WORSE without the camo? Dave - Thursday August 5 2010 3:05
Spy pics? For this? Looks like they scammed all the sheet metal of the overrated Charger and downsized it a bit.
Sorry...BORING! Greg - Friday August 6 2010 3:08
Sure looks like the Charger which looks like a tank. Gary - Friday August 6 2010 4:17
Boring, boring, boring. They just had to put four doors on it. The car will be dangerous, the drivers will fall asleep while driving such a boring car. Chrysler products used to sell excitement, even in family cars. Those days are gone. All the larger cars have four doors, no 300 coupes anymore. Have all the great car designers died and were replaced by four door loving accounts? Shame on you Chrysler, I might as well buy a Toyota. Karl - Friday August 6 2010 4:35
There has never been anything wrong with the current front of the avenger, the avenger is fine to me. Andrew - Friday August 6 2010 5:01
it is so great to see a grille and taillight change.in the 60 s and 70 s car got grille and taillight changes every year, even extensive panel changes every year. it made you look forward to the annual new cars in october. now one car lasts seven, eight or ten years with not even a badge change.thats what you call boring. good to see some annual style change. daryl parker - Friday August 6 2010 7:35
