Late last year, we began seeing next-gen Scaglietti mules in the form of current-body test cars with hood bumps and other rough body modifications. Today we´ve got the first look at an actual 612 prototype!
On sale since 2004, the Scaglietti is the least up-to-date car in Ferrari's current lineup and is certainly due for a redesign. Now that work on the 458 Italia is largely done, engineers appear to be shifting their focus to the new 612.

While Ferrari want to keep the details a secret, the long, raked hood and classic 612 proportions are still there to see. Ferrari have gone to great lengths to camouflage the traditional sloping rear roofline of the 612 with several, elaborate fake body panels on the roof and rear decklid. We're pretty sure the rear windshield you see here is fake as well!
Hybrid maybe? Traditionally, Ferrari rumors run far and wide, and it is no different with the 2012 Scaglietti's possible powertrain. We've heard anything from an updated V12, to a version of the V8 in the 458 Italia to a system employing a KERS setup. We'll keep you updated as the details begin to trickle in...
