Opel continues testing the Astra GTC, as these unique spy-shots of the compact 3-door body, snapped close to the firm’s Nürburgring test centre today, clearly prove. The GTC will be presented at the Paris Motor Show, scheduled for October, while sales start in spring 2011. The new car will be characterized by the front and rear LED lights and the aggressively styled side panel.
The range of petrol engines will be limited to supercharged units only, while the diesel range will include the 130-hp 1.7-litre CDTI and 2.0-litre CDTI with 160 hp. The 1.6-litre Turbo with 210 hp will be the motor of the reborn GSi and, at the end of 2011, the OPC sport version will receive the 2.0-litre 240-hp Turbo. The new Opel Astra GTC will stand out much from the 5-door hatch and adopt a lot of the styling of a coupe shooting brake, made to compete on equal terms with the Volkswagen Scirocco.
