Our spies have managed to catch the first images of the 2012 Mercedes SLK AMG. Undergoing testing near the Nürburgring, the prototype features SLS AMG-inspired styling, a high performance braking system, quad tailpipes, and ten-spoke alloy wheels.
Under the hood, power will likely be provided by a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 with potentially up to 544 HP and 800 Nm of torque, as already seen in the recently announced S 63 AMG and CL 63 AMG with the same engine. This would allow the compact roadster to easily eclipse the performance figures posted by its 360HP predecessor. However, Mercedes will most likely cap power output like the outgoing R171, but undoubtedly tuners will be quite anxious to get their wrenches into it.
