It seems BMW took the same prototypes of the new X5 to the cold northern areas where snow dominates. While the cars vanish to the background the engineers prepare the facelifted SUV for the last tests.
With the show in Geneva nearby we think BMW will not introduce the new X5 on this event. More over because the SUV shall be overshadowed by the complete new BMW 5-serie and the upgraded Coupe and Cabriolet of the 3-series. Probably Munich have set their senses on a debut in the coming summer.
Upgrades
The light update of the X5 will be basically and nip tuck here and there. We see a new front and rear bumper and - for the first time - rumors from inside hint to a new one-piece hatch. BMW tends to introduce a new engine with each new model or facelift. For the X5 all the possible choices form a very short list. One of these possibilities is a hybrid powertrain since the brand has been exhibiting concept ActiveHybrids. An X6 hybrid has even been spied doing tests.
The new X5 is expected to make an official entrance before the end of the year.
