Here we are with an asking face. Left behind by the test driver who wasn’t able – or willing? – to give us information about the camouflaged Skoda Roomster we’ve just snapped. The question remains: What is this car all about?
Our photos show a Roomster in serial trim but with a modified front skirt and a disguise we’ve never seen before on a Skoda – in fact a disguise we’ve never seen before on any car. It is clearly different from the psychedelic camouflage used by BMW, Audi, Jaguar and other makes these days.
Together with the Fabia, the Skoda Roomster got a facelift earlier this year, so we doubt this is yet another makeover. The photos don’t show an electric version, either, because our photographer has heard the sound of a petrol engine.
Test driver
A chat with the test driver – a very friendly guy from the Czech Republic by the way – didn’t lead to much: He stated he didn’t have a clue what he was driving. He thought the new front bumper might become a part of a sports version later on. But we doubt that. A Roomster isn't a sporty car is it? The disguise, he revealed, was not at all to hide new design elements. It was part of a new marketing campaign and there to gain an extra portion of attention. Well, that worked fine with us!
