B like Bingo! Here are the first spyshots of the all-new Mercedes B-class, expected to hit showrooms in autumn 2011. It’s the car that fans of the current model won’t like: The new car will discontinue today’s B-class’ overall layout of a super-mini MPV in favour of a more hatchback-like design. Much more than a Sports-Tourer, the new car will be a Golf beater and a car Wolfsburg will have to fear.
With its lower profile and sportier appearance, the new B-class is hoped to attract younger buyers rather than the middle-ager and the generation 60+ the current model is bought by. Little is known yet about the range of petrol and diesel engines to expect, be we are pretty sure a hybrid and a fuel-cell variant will be on offer right from the start – it’s time for Mercedes to come up with something greener than Blue Efficiency after all…
