These second series of spyshots of a compact crossover from Mazda confirm that the Japanese manufacturer is working on a model under the CX-7. And with the Minagi Concept on the Geneva Motor Show we also know how the exterior will look like.
Currently the 81th Geneva Motor Show receive thousand and thousands of car enthusiasts. On the first press day Mazda pulled the curtains in front of the Minagi Concept. Yes, a compact crossover with the size of a Nissan Qashqai. And now we catch (well, we just pulled at the sail) this mule that looks like a compact CX-7. In short, Mazda will soon launch such a model, supposedly called CX-5.
The new compact SUV would probably based on the Mazda 3 and powered by the new Mazda Sky-G and Sky-D engine families combined with the equally new Sky transmissions. The design themes shall look very similar to the latest Mazda concept cars and for certain the Minagi Concept with Mazda’s new design language “Kodo”.
Penned for the global market this new compact SUV would be sold in Europe, United States and of course Japan where it’s assumed to be produced. We expect the unveiling of the production car to be in late next year.
