The new Bentley Arnage is about to be launched and they call it the Grand Bentley. Bentley already warmed us up with some teasers, but the most interesting part in the whole story is that we´ve already seen an almost uncamouflaged model. These new spyshots reveal us no more details, but we can clearly see the proportions of the car.
Judging from the looks of this camouflaged prototype, the team at Crewe seems to have deviated very little from the Arnage design formula. Reports suggest that the new car will be longer than the current model. More legroom should then be expected at the back where presumably most Arnage buyers spend their time. Redesigned parts also include the front bumper, rear end and tailpipes.
6.75 V8
The Arnage has always been a big-engined car so nothing less than that will suffice for the Grand Bentley as well. Called Project Kimberley internally, the new car will use the next generation of Bentley's petrol-fuelled 6.75-liter V8 engine, which will produce over 550 horsepower and up to 800 ft-lb of torque. This should allow the all-wheel drive limo to reach a top speed of about 320 km/h. Eventually, the company may also release diesel and hybrid models of the vehicle.
No long-wheelbase version
Bentley is not planning to release a long-wheelbase version of the new car, which will likely surprise many potential customers. By doing this, the company would be able to save money on the Grand Bentley, while speeding up the production process.
Debut in August
The all-new Grand Bentley will debut at the 2009 Concours D'Elegance in Pebble Beach, California, on August 16th. Likely pricing should be around 250.000 Euros for each example.
