Things are not going exactly well for the Spanish car manufacturer SEAT at present, but if the make can manage to create a unique, sporty and somewhat “Mediterranean” design, we might soon be looking at a brighter future for the brand.
While the Ibiza sells in significant numbers, the sub-compact hatch alone cannot compensate the loss created by cars like the Altea, Leon or Exeo. But there’s light at the end of tunnel...
IBE Concept
Last night, our spy-photographers managed to get a few fast shots of the all-new SEAT Leon, scheduled for a launch in 2011. The car incorporates the new, unique SEAT-design first seen in the IBE concept car shown during the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Like its Audi A3- and VW Golf VII-brothers, the new Leon will come as a three- or five-door model and make use of a great choice of petrol and diesel engines from the Volkswagen shelf. All variants of the new Leon added, the model should reach a production figure of around 200 000 units. The car might yet be shown at Palexpo in Geneva next March.
Can't see really where the IBE design elements appear here... But the door and A-pillar look like Golf 6. Isn't this a Golf 7 rather than a Leon 3? bjork - Thursday September 9 2010 17:55
It is a test mule of the SEAT Leon III,
built on the new VW group platform MQB,
carrying the bodywork of a Golf VI ie. the uncovered part.
On this mule it is only the front and the rear part that come from the future Leon, and this is why they are covered.
The door and the A-pillar are those of the Golf VI and there were no reason to be hidden under the camouflage. Pedro - Tuesday September 14 2010 19:08
