From what we can see, the dash, center stack and the pair of large chrome-ringed gauges all bear a strong resemblance to the interior of 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Another thing we think is worth mentioning is how much smaller this new Dodge CUV looks now that we've seen it out in traffic and have other cars to compare it to. When compared to the 2009 Durango, the 2012 vehicle is not nearly as tall or long.
Optical
While the V6 model has all-purpose wheels and tires, along with one exhaust pipe, the HEMI model has sportier wheels, lower-profile tires and a pair of chrome tipped exhaust outlets. The more powerful Durango also had an unmistakable HEMI rumble as the driver punched it away from a stop light.
Technics
Code-named "WD," the Durango will be sharing a unibody chassis with the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the 2011 Mercedes ML class. Not all things will be equal as we expect the Benz to sport higher end running gear than its Chrysler brothers. Fiat may also launch a vehicle on this chassis sometime in 2012-2013. One thing you WON'T see on this chassis is a Chrysler Aspen variant.
Engines
Powertrains for the Dodge should be identical to the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, with the next-gen, Pentastar 3.6L V6 and the 5.7L Hemi V8 on tap. A Fiat-sourced diesel motor, as well as a dual clutch transmission, may eventually find its way into the Dodge. Watch for this new Dodge CUV to start production in November of 2010 at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit, MI.
